The sensor has two operating modes: measuring the BPM (beats per minute) of the heart rate or displaying the arbitrary analog value of the measured signal.
The electrodes are based on plethysmographs. The sensors consist of an infrared LED transmitter and a corresponding infrared phototransistor receiver.
